Welcome, busybees
Welcome, busybees.
NYU mathematician Tristan Buckmaster announced real progress this week on one of math's seven Millennium Prize problems, a $1 million bounty attached. Then he published something else: an accusation that OpenAI learned about his unpublished progress, quietly built on it, and rushed out its own version before he could publish first. "There is another part of this story," Buckmaster wrote, "and one that, honestly, I very much wish I did not have to be concerned with."
Meanwhile, Meta made its biggest consumer AI bet yet, less than two weeks after agreeing to pay $18 billion for the last time it broke people's trust.
Here’s what happened in AI today:
• A math professor says OpenAI quietly built on his unpublished work to win a $1 million problem first.
• Meta launched its most ambitious AI agent yet, weeks after an $18 billion settlement over consumer trust.
• Suno retired every model that got it sued and rebuilt from scratch on licensed music.
• Hackers are now stealing Claude access tokens directly from subscribers.
• A startup is bolting a semiconductor fab onto SpaceX rockets to manufacture chips in space.
…and a whole lot more that you can read about below.
• A Math Professor Says OpenAI "Fought Dirty" to Win a Million-Dollar Problem
Tristan Buckmaster, working with Anthropic mathematician Levent Alpöge, announced real progress this week on the Navier-Stokes existence and smoothness problem, one of math's seven Millennium Prize problems. In his announcement, Buckmaster said that while he and Alpöge were finalizing their results, they learned "information about our progress had been passed to OpenAI." When they raised it, OpenAI told them it had already achieved a full proof of the central problem. OpenAI's own account confirms much of the timeline, saying its effort began September 1, inspired by rumors two Millennium Prize problems had been solved. Buckmaster found the timing suspicious specifically because the technical approach he and Alpöge used was unusual, and "almost nobody else" was working the same angle. Shortly after Buckmaster went public, OpenAI published its own full proof.
• Meta Launched Its Biggest Consumer AI Bet Yet, Weeks After an $18 Billion Trust Settlement
Meta introduced Muse this week, a personal AI agent that connects to a user's email, calendar, payments, health apps, and smart home devices to act on their behalf, sending emails, booking travel, and making purchases directly. The launch lands less than two weeks after Meta agreed to an $18 billion multistate settlement over consumer harms linked to social media, a timing gap that's drawing real scrutiny. Meta says Muse runs inside a dedicated "Secure VM" with a separate Sentinel agent auditing its actions, and claims Muse can't see passwords or payment methods directly. Internal testing reportedly told a messier story: reports describe guardrail bypasses, including one incident where the agent exposed private photos while trying to pull images for a party invitation. Muse launches with a free tier and two paid plans, $20 and $100 a month, and is available on web, iOS, Android, and inside WhatsApp.
• Suno Retired the Models That Got It Sued and Rebuilt From Scratch
Suno unveiled Suno v6 this week, a new model family trained entirely on licensed data from Warner Music Group, BMG, and Believe, explicitly not reusing any data that trained its earlier, legally troubled models. Every previous Suno model is being permanently retired. The move follows Suno's November 2025 settlement with Warner and a more recent deal with BMG, though Universal Music Group and Sony Music Group are still pursuing active copyright claims, and singer-songwriter Jason Isbell recently filed a separate class action. Suno is releasing three versions, a base model, an experimental "wild" model, and a smaller v6-mini, alongside a planned artist opt-in program for AI-generated remixes.

Stop Paying for 6 Tools. One AI Does It All
Most e-commerce sellers are running their store across 6 to 8 separate tools — and paying hundreds of dollars a month for the privilege. StoreClaw replaces your entire stack with one autonomous AI engine that monitors competitors, optimizes listings, automates marketing, and tracks real profit across Shopify, Amazon, and beyond.
It doesn't wait for you to ask. It runs 24/7 in the background, so you wake up to a full dashboard instead of a list of things you forgot to check.
Connect your store, and StoreClaw gets to work — no prompts, no complex setup, no six-app stack.
Free to start. No credit card required.

Skill of the Day
Build a Briefing That Only Speaks Up When Something Changes
Recurring AI updates get easy to ignore when they repeat yesterday's answer with a new timestamp attached. The fix is deciding what actually counts as news before you ever schedule the check.
Name the topic and the exact sources worth watching. Define what counts as a real change, a price shift, a new release, a deadline, or an official filing, not just any new sentence on the page. Tell the AI to compare each run against the last one, report only the difference, and say plainly when nothing has changed. Give a temporary monitor a real end date so it doesn't quietly run forever after the thing you cared about has passed.
Prompt of the Day
The Changes-Only Briefing
Every weekday at 8:00 AM, check [TOPIC] using [SOURCE LIST]. Compare the findings with previous runs. Notify me only if [DEFINITION OF MEANINGFUL CHANGE]. Include the source link, publication time, what changed, and the action I should consider. If nothing qualifies, reply: "No meaningful change." Stop this task after [END CONDITION].
